What is Bob saying here? Well, to me, this is talking about the fact, and I say FACT on purpose, that no matter what stage of life we are in, or what environment we are in, we are really nowhere when when you compare it to where we can go.

We have the Ability to Go, Do, Be whatever we want, when we start going towards it. We can go wherever we desire and believe. No matter where we are right now.

I saw Josh Shipp one Sunday morning while watching Sunday Morning. I have been a Sunday Morning fan for many years and watched it faithfully. I would get up early on Sunday, grab my newspaper, fix my coffee and sit down in front of the TV to watch Sunday Morning on CBS. They always have great segments about people, places, and passions.

When I saw Josh, I was amazed at his energy and his message. A great leader for teens and at-risk teens especially.

Michael is a co-worker of mine that recently completed his 2nd Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco. He inspired me when he posted some pictures and told about his experience on our company internal community site.

I interviewed Michael about his experience and how he used goal setting to help him achieve this feat on our Goal Getting Podcast, Episode 20. You can click the link and go back and listen to him tell how he Escaped from Alcatraz the 2nd time.

When I asked Michael what quote hung on his wall, what quote motivates him, he showed me the quote that is on his iPad. He has put his favorite quote on his iPad since he carries that with him all the time.

This is such a simple quote, but oh so powerful! Tina Fey is a really funny comedian. She has been on Saturday Night Live and starred in 30 Rock. She is incredibly funny, but this is a serious quote from her.

What she is saying is absolutely correct in my opinion. You don’t make mistakes. You create educational opportunities. If you make mistakes, you can learn what not to do the next time. When you do things that aren’t right, don’t think of them as mistakes. Learn from them and take advantage of the opportunity to do better next time, to grow.

Stephen Richards is a believer in the power of the subconscious mind and a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist. He and I share that education and experience. I trained as and was qualified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist as well. I use a lot of the training I had in hypnotherapy and working with the subconscious mind to develop the 9 Steps To Successful Goal Achievement as well as using the Mental Bank program training to develop the Goal Getting, Don’t Just Set’em Get’em Course that I share on the Goal Getting Podcast.

We know that when we sleep and dream we are able to escape our life. Our dreams as we sleep are ways for our mind to vent the experiences of the day. It’s a way to escape our life.

But, as Stephen Richards says, when we dream by day, we can make it happen. It depends on what your dreams are. But the key thing I believe that he is saying in this quote is that we make our dreams happen by day because we do the actions necessary to achieve the dreams. We don’t just escape, but we take action and take advantage of the opportunities to make the dreams happen.

Today’s Goal Getting Quote of the Day is part of our Opportunity Series we started with Richard Branson’s Top 10 Quotes on Opportunity. It’s a quote from Brazilian lyricist and author, Paulo ( Pow lu ) Coehlo (Co ey yu).

“How much I missed, simply because I was afraid of missing it.”

The quote is from his book, Brida. A young girl is thinking about life and all of the opportunities she had in life and love and how because she wanted to be able to experience every opportunity, but ended up doing none of them.

One of the most common things that people on their death-bed talk about are the things they wish they had done. But at that time it’s too late. You can’t worry about regrets and what was, but what we have to worry about is what we want to do today.

Opportunities come to us and we make a decision to make them work for us, or we ignore them. At the end, if we ignore them all, we will be like the girl in Brida, fretting over the things she missed simply because she was afraid of missing some of them and thereby, miss them all.

Don’t Miss the things you missed. Grab the opportunities that you are offered.

Before I started researching this quote, I had heard the name Paulo ( Pow lu ) Coehlo (Co ey yu), but didn’t realize what an amazing writer and thinker he is. He has sold over 65 Million copies of his bestseller, The Alchemist, and over 170 Million of the 30 Books he has written. The Alchemist has been said by many well-known people who it is their favorite book and many have had life changing feelings after reading it.

I have not read it yet, but will add it to my reading list. I am glad to hear that I can get it on Audible as an Audiobook. I have found it helpful to listen to audiobooks on my commute. Judith McNaught is not someone I knew before I saw this quote that Richard Branson shared. Judith McNaught is a New York Times Best Selling Author! As an author with an eBook on Amazon.com, I know this is a great accomplishment. I think that is important to know when you listen to Judith’s Quote. She is an Opportunity seeker and a person of action. You have to be to get on the New York Times Best Seller List.

Judith tells us:

You can’t outwit fate by standing on the sidelines placing little side bets about the outcome of life – If you don’t play you can’t win.”

Do you know any of those people that just sit or stand around watching while others are doing things. They stand on the sidelines of your life, placing wagers,

“Oh, he’ll never do that, he’s too old. I bet he fails.”

“What does she know about that, I bet she fall on her face.”

Do you do that to yourself. Do you get ready to call someone to set up an appointment to show them your product and then say to yourself,

“I bet they won’t be interested. I shouldn’t even bother calling.” “Oh, I bet I will mess up this deal.”

Don’t Listen to Them

First, Don’t listen to those people! And, more importantly Don’t listen to you! Don’t let your own mind place those side bets.

I loved to watch the TV Show “In It To Win It” with Guy Fieri. The catch phrase was “You Gotta Be In it To Win It!”
and that is what Judith is saying in this quote.

Be In It To Win It

If you want to win, you have to play. Placing the side bets that stop you from acting on your goals will not make you

successful at that you want to do. If you want to Win, You have to Play first. Get out there on the field, Do the things that it takes to Win and You Will WIN!

I hope this quote will inspire you to keep playing and working on your goals. Don’t stand on the sidelines. Play and Play to Win.

today. This is the Goal Getting Podcast Quote of the Day. I love to share quotes that mean something to me and or to the

Opportunity Favors The Bold

Sir Richard Branson is one of my favorite Entrepreneurs and businessman. He has turned most of the ideas he has had into amazing businesses and great adventures. He is a great humanitarian, philanthropist and motivator to millions.

I going to give you two great quotes in one today. The first one is really just a statement, but could easily be thought of as a Quote.

Richard Branson said,

Opportunity favours the bold – this is a lesson that I learned early on, and have used to guide the Virgin story.”

That is an amazing truth and you can tell that he takes every opportunity he can to be bold and it has paid off for him in most cases. But he will be the first to tell you that all of the opportunities he’s tried didn’t succeed.

One of his most famous quotes I have seen a lot lately on social media is one that I have learned early on as well. It is one that I have lived by in my own life and career.

Listen to this quote and pay close attention:

The key to what Richard Branson says here is Seize the Opportunity when it comes your way, EVEN IF YOU DON”T KNOW HOW TO
DO IT. You can always learn how to do it later. But, you many not know how to do it, but if it’s a great opportunity it may not come your way again. Grab it while it’s there and Learn It when you can.

I worked for Fannie Mae years ago in their warehouse. I had taught myself how to install software on the computers we sold. I was learned how to talk to the people in the software support area. When they asked if I wanted to work in the Software Support Area, I had no idea how to program the software of talk about mortgages. I said Yes! I knew I wanted out of the warehouse and into a higher paying job. I figured I could learn what I needed.

I did.

Then when they sold the company a less than a year later, the new company took only 27 of the 150 staff. I WAS ONE OF THE 27. They didn’t take anyone that knew how to train customers on the Software. How to use it or How to program it. They asked who wants to do the training? No one volunteered, BUT ME! I became the Trainer. I had to learn how to teach how to program a software I had just learned how to use. I had to learn how to create training material. I had to learn how to teach people. I taught myself and learned how to do what I needed to do.

Within the next year I had more than doubled my salary I had been making in the warehouse. When I was offered the opportunity to be a consultant a couple of years later! I said Yes. I had no idea how to be a consultant. I knew the software I was consulting on. I knew how to program it, I knew how to troubleshoot it. But I had no clue how to consult on it. I got a few books, read up on how to be a consultant. What was important in software development, etc. I became a consultant charging as much as $200 an Hour.

I went from making $17,000 a year in the warehouse to charging $200 dollars an hour.

I said “Yes”, when the amazing opportunity was offered.

So, you should take Richard Branson’s advice.

“If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, Say Yes! – then learn how to do it later!”
