When I cut the feet out of my pantyhose that one time, I saw it as my sign. I had been visualizing being self employed prior to this happening. It was my mental preparation meeting the opportunity in that moment.

 Sara Blakely, the founder and owner of Spanx had visualized herself being self-employed before the cut the feet out of her pantyhose. As soon as she cut them, she saw it as her sign to start her business.
Sara Blakely had been preparing herself mentally by visualizing herself being self-employed. She could see herself in the role as a business owner. She didn’t have a product to sell at the time, or a true business, but as soon as she did the right thing to trigger the meeting of preparation and opportunity, she was set to be what she had visualized.
By using visualization, your mind can start to see things that could bring about those visions. It know what you want, and when situations arise and opportunities show up, then it is automatically ready to answer that call.
Without the mental preparation of seeing yourself as successful, the opportunities you have that show up are likely to go unrecognized as opportunities.

I am a big believer in visualization. I run through my races mentally so that I feel even more prepared.

 “Who is Allyson Felix?”, you might ask. One of the fastest women on the planet is the answer.
Allyson competed in the 2012 London Olympics and is working on her return in Rio. I have not doubt she will make it. I watched her run in 2012 and was amazed at her form, her grace and her speed!
I’m willing to bet she is already visualizing herself crossing the finish line with a new personal best.
When you visualize yourself doing something, you want to make it your best every time. Allyson says in her quote that she runs through her races mentally so that she can feel prepared.
When you do this, it allows the mind to be able to learn what to expect in every situation. Many athletes visualize all of the possibilities, including the things that can go wrong. They then are able to visualize how they will handle it and what they will do to continue to achieve the goal. This mental preparedness will make it easier for you to respond if it happens and you will be able to react quickly and confidently.
You want to get the prize!
You want to do your best time.
You want to see your biggest paycheck.
Whatever your goal is, you want to SEE You Doing It.

 Today we continue with the Visualization series of quotes. Visualization is key to being successful in a lot of areas, especially sports. Today’s Quote stresses visualization but also another area of Goal Getting that is very important.

Today’s quote is:

Bill Rancic is best know from season 1 of The Apprentice where he was the first contestant to ever hear the words, “Your Hired!”

Since then Bill has gone on to do many things. Today he is a Husband and Father, a Restauranteur, an Entrepreneur, a Speaker, TV Host, an Author and Philanthropist. Bill is someone that knows how to set goals.

He also uses a technique that we discuss in the Goal Getting, Don’t Just Set’em, Get’em Program. We recommend setting goals that are out of your comfort zone, then breaking them down into smaller, shorter-term goals.

Bill and other marathon runners use visualization to envision themselves crossing the finish line.

Bill goes further in breaking down the 26.2 miles in to smaller goals and then like we teach in Goal Getting, he celebrates the little victories along the way. The step of Rewarding yourself for the small victories is also one of the 9 Steps To Successful Goal Achievement, and discussed in my eBook, which you can sign up for and download for free on the sidebar.

Be like Bill and visualize yourself achieving your goals. Break your long-term goals into smaller goals and when you achieve any of your goals, celebrate them.

Harvey Mackay know about success and about achieving goals. As his quote states, he is a firm believer in using visualization. I, like Harvey, believe it is the most powerful means of achieving personal goals.

When I put “Visualize It” as one of the the 9 Steps To Successful Goal Achievement, my ebook, it is because it is essential to successful goal achievement. The Goal Getting, Don’t Just Set’em, Get’em program teaches visualization techniques to help you set into your subconscious mind, the exact thing you are trying to achieve when you set your goals.

Do you use mediation or other visualization techniques? The subconscious mind is a powerful tool that we have for our use. Sometimes it can be negatively programmed with limiting beliefs and we have to change those to positive goal-oriented, success-conscious beliefs.

Visualization helps us do that.

Thinking about the process of achieving the goals we have set and imaging us doing them perfectly, executing them in our mind with unrelenting precision, will help us set the mind to believing that we can do it that way and that we can achieve the goals.

Would you like to learn some visualization techniques and meditations? I have done many visualizations myself, and most successful sports figures use these type of techniques to see themselves doing and winning the events the enter.

This quote was shared by Rochelle Jhonson on Twitter. She has shared several great quotes. Just want to give her a hat tip for it.

Wow, a very simple quote, but so meaningful in many ways. It could relate to many things. Relationships, jobs, careers, events, lives, business, failures. Anything.

When something ends, you shouldn’t cry, or think of the ending as bad or even what happened as bad or sad. Yes, it may be sad for a moment, especially if we lost someone or something we truly loved.

But what Dr. Seuss says here, to me, is that we shouldn’t cry, but instead smile. Remember the experience and the fact that it happened. Whether it was a good or bad experience, we can take something away from that experience.

The joy we shared, the love we felt, the excitement we held in our hearts or minds for the time we had it. A lesson learned, knowing that we won’t do the same thing again. A knowledge or skill acquired that will propel us to greater good.

It reminds me of the philosophy and a saying we say in my martial art that I study:

Shiken haramitsu daikoumyo

The translation shared with me by the Grandmaster and my Sensei was:

“In every experience in life, there is the opportunity to gain total enlightenment. It is up to us to determine if that experience is positive or negative.”

Dr. Seuss or Sensei Seuss’s quote today is along the same philosophy.

Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.  Choose happiness over sadness. Smiling over Crying.

What a great thought that Maya Angelou shared. She was a great author, poet, humanitarian, and philanthropist. An all around great lady. Most of the things she did was done so to help people feel better about themselves. She strived to live by this quote in all that she did and said.

It is important how you make people feel. If you want to do something important and significant in life, then you should focus on doing something that makes people feel good, important, valued, loved, respected, etc. Make them feel special.

Wow, I have been attending Podcast Movement 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas this week. Today our afternoon Keynote Speaker was Aisha Tyler. Aisha has been podcasting for 5 years. She presented a fantastic speech. In her RAW and unedited style, she offered NO APOLOGIES: Creating Authenticity by Embracing Risk

It was a phenomenal speech, with biting and hilarious humor and tear jerking emotion! She Rocked it and she was HAM! Yes, she had to explain what HAM was to us older folks and Caucasians. I think I got a double dose of that, and must admit I needed it. I liked the term and the definition and will have to start using it.

Aisha is a self-admitted work-a-holic, with 15 jobs as she says. She is always doing thing and believes in the mantra, I can rest when I die!  A dynamite lady with a great story.  I am going to start listening to her podcast, Girl on Guy.

She has a book out called Self-Inflicted Wounds. It’s a part of her podcast where she asks her guest to tell her about things they have done that have screwed them up. It’s not about what the Man did to you, or what your momma did to you, it’s about “things You Did to Yourself that were stupid”.

I am an active Toastmaster. I earned my CC – Competent Communicator designation this year. I am almost finished with my CL – Competent Leader designation as well. Our company Toastmaster got very goal-oriented this year with our new President, Eugene Chen. You will get to hear Eugene in a couple weeks explain how he used Goal Getting to Get The Goals He Set for himself and for the Toastmasters Club.

The last thing I am working on for my CL is mentoring two members. I have to mentor a new member and an existing member. While working and learning in Toastmasters, it is helpful to have a mentor to help guide you through the journey toward becoming a better speaker and a better leader.

Having a Mentor is also important in business and life. Napoleon Hill speaks about the most successful people of his time believing in and having mentors and belonging to Mastermind groups.

I have a personal mentor and am involved in a couple mastermind groups. They are like trusted advisers on business and life affairs.  I am also a Goal Getting Mentor and provide coaching and mentoring services to people to help them Get The Goals They Set.

What Shawn Hitchcock says is true. Mentors empower you to see a possible future, and believe it can be obtained.
