“The Man in the Arena”
It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.
Thank you for sharing this great quote, Hector. The Man in the Arena, is such a powerful vision. It’s like the gladiator that fights every day to keep themselves alive, to earn their freedom.
Teddy Roosevelt, President, soldier, statesman, pioneer was often in the arena of life. He had many victories and many defeats. His words here, especially the last part about the best and worst really resonate with me.

The “Man in the Arena”, knows the triumph of high achievement. They also know that it is better to fail daring greatly, than to never have the opportunity to experience either because they fear trying.
If you have a dream, a goal, go for it! It could be a resounding success, or it could be a supreme failure. At least you will experience one or the other, or both! But at least you will experience and learn from both.
